Computer Hardware: DVI Monitors
If you want top quality graphics then you need DVI monitors. DVI stands for digital video input and it produces the highest quality signal possible. Pretty much all LCD monitors come DVI ready. The obvious benefit is that the picture is digital instead of analog like older models.
Why DVI Monitors Are Better Than the Rest
Most CRT monitors use a 15 pin connection which is an analog connection. Many DVI monitors are so powerful that they can support both digital and analog connections. Currently, DVI is the only way to get a digital to digital connection. Just make sure that your computer support a digital video output.
What makes digital signals better than analog ones? When you watch television with an antenna youre receiving an analog picture. It can be fuzzy or it can go in and out. When you have a digital signal the picture is either on or off. Youre either receiving the signal or youre not. This means you cant get fuzziness like with analog.
Now that you have a little background on the capabilities of DVI monitors, dont you want one? Seems to me like digital is just a lot better than analog. Thats pretty much the bottom line. The only problem is you need an LCD monitor to take advantage of it and LCDs can be a little bit on the expensive side.
